A celebration of life for Mr. Richard C. Alfsen, Sr. will be held at 3:00PM, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard, who left us Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the age of 48.
He was born in Olongapo City, Philippines on August 16, 1976.
Richard joined the United States Army in 1997. He became a Sergeant First Class and later retired from service after 20 years. He was proud to protect the freedom of the US citizens. Richard was a vibrant soul whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Richard was known for his ability to bring people together.
His generous, gentle spirit and unwavering compassion will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard was surrounded by a loving family and a wide circle of friends, who will miss him dearly.
Richard is survived by his wife, "Mahal" Rebecca Zurbrick; children, Richard Alfsen, Jr. (Aurora), Lillian Alfsen, Angelina Alfsen, Reggie Salazar (Nadia Zarate), Renzo Salazar, and Ryanna Salazar; grandchildren, Marcelo Alfsen, and Kylan Alfsen; mother, Letecia Alfsen; aunt, Arlene Sawyer and Maria Castro; cousin, Kate Maravillas, as well as nieces and nephews, and two fur babies, Milo and Meegan.
Mr. Alfsen is preceded in death by his father, David P. Alfsen.
Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until 2:45PM, prior to chapel services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:

January - May

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
