On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Joan P. (Reis) Becker, age 91, of Baldwin Borough, passed away peacefully with family by her side. Beloved wife of Neal H. Becker for 70 years; loving mother of Julie (James) Christiansen of Marquette, MI, Beth (Ben) Hertzler of Harrisburg, PA, Stephen (Jamie) Becker of Hopewell, PA, Robert (Carole) Becker of Cecil, PA, and Mary Ann Becker of Pittsburgh, PA; also survived by 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews; sister of the late Sister Mary Ann Reis, Rosalie (Ray) Grehofsky, and Nancy (survived by Bob) Franz. Joan was the epitome of selflessness; ALWAYS putting the needs and wants of everyone she ever met ahead of her own. Somehow, she managed to keep five kids and a husband (if you ever met Neal, you would understand) under control and on the right path. None of us could have asked for a kinder, more patient or loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt or friend. She never once complained about the challenges in her life, always handling every situation with a gentle but firm approach and did everything she could to avoid attention or accolades. We will dearly miss her constant love and acceptance, her tender way of speaking the truth even when you didn't want to hear it, her willingness to forgive and never hold a grudge and her unwavering positivity. She was, simply put...THE VERY BEST!!! Joan was also a devoted and active member of Nativity Church. Friends received Sunday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the GRIFFITH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5636 Brownsville Road (at 6th St.), South Park Twp., 412-655-4600. Funeral prayer Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish-Nativity Church, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please consider making a donation in Joan's honor to the Children's Oncology Group Foundation, 40 W. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
