George Paul Kasdorf Sr.
April 16, 1923 - July 20, 2025
George Paul Kasdorf, Sr., of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away on Sunday, July 20, at the remarkable age of 102. He had a long full life.
George was born on April 16, 1923 in Porter, Indiana, the only child of German immigrants, George and Wilhelmine (Schäfer) Kasdorf.
George was a remarkable person with many skills and interests. He had a curiosity and interest in how things worked. From a young age he was especially interested in electronics. Much of it was self-taught by taking things apart and reassembling them. He loved building electronic projects and restoring old "Hit and Miss" engines.
At the age of 17 George developed an interest in Amateur (Ham) Radio which became a lifelong passion. He studied electronics and completed his education at the Valparaiso Technical Institute.
He worked for the Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) until he retired in 1983.
In addition to being employed at NIPSCO, George served as a volunteer Sheriff for the Elkhart County Sheriff's Reserve.
On Nov. 22, 1946 in Elkhart, Indiana, George married Roseanna Munch. They were married for 53 years.
Together, they raised ten children, Georgiann, George Jr., Laura, Mike, Mary, Debbie, Judy, Paul, Tobin, and Alan.
After George retired, they moved to Lewistown Pennsylvania so Roseanna could pursue a career in Social Work specializing in the area of adoption.
After Roseanna's passing in 1999, George moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan to be close to family.
In his later years, George continued to enjoy his hobby of Ham Radio, building projects, spending time with his family, reading, and enjoying time with his friend Adda.
George will be missed by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
